Hello, this is a message from Shadman Habibi, CNM. I am your ACNM Region VI-5 Chapter Chair . Here is a list of the benefits you will receive when you become a member:
• We have a reduced annual chapter membership for CNMA (our State organization) which allows us access to information that affects us all in California. Through CNMA we can learn about lobbying efforts and the issues affecting CNM’s in practice in our State.
• We have the opportunity to network with our colleagues at the bi-monthly meetings and learn what our local issues are and how we can help women throughout their reproductive and gynecologic life.
• We usually have a guest speaker at our meetings and can provide CEU’s for any educational offering.
• Our meetings are held at hospitals, birth centers, and CNM practice settings throughout the Los Angeles area. On occasion we will meet at a local restaurant where the meeting will be sponsored by a pharmaceutical rep. The meetings always include a meal.
• As a member you can post your practice information at our website at no extra cost to you.
• Every other year we plan to host an educational offering. Our last education day was September 2005 with Ina May Gaskin.
• Every September or October we meet at Glen Ivy Hot Springs to restore our own energy. At Glen Ivy in 2005 we had our first Southern California joint chapter meeting which included ACNM Chapters from Orange, Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. Michelle King from ACNM National Office was our guest.
Membership is for two years. The current membership window is January 2008 through December 2009. The dues are: $50 for a CNM and $25 for a CNM Student.
Please Plan To Join Your Local Chapter And Learn More About Being A Los Angeles/Ventura County Based Midwife.
