How are we trained?
Certified Nurse-Midwives in California are registered nurses (RNs) with a master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery. In California, UCSD, UCSF, and California State University, Fullerton provide master's programs in Nurse-Midwifery, although CNMs in the Los Angeles area have been trained throughout the United States with a broad range of clinical experiences and backgrounds.
Where can you find us?
UCLA, Cedars-Sinai, Kaiser Permanente, California Hospital, and Good Samaritan all provide midwifery services for women wishing to deliver in a hospital. There are three birth centers in the Los Angeles area as well as many Certified Nurse-Midwives attending births within the home.

What is a CNM?
Certified Nurse-Midwives are Advanced Practice Registered Nurses specializing in normal pregnancy and birth and care for women from adolescence to beyond menopause. We are licensed, independent health care providers in California. While midwives are known for attending births, we also provide primary care, gynecological services, write prescriptions, and provide nutrition counseling, parent education, and reproductive health visits.
